Democrats, bowing to pressure from the White House, passed legislation to give the prez expanded spying powers late yesterday. The move created a stir with the ACLU and other groups who support constitutional freedoms over fear of terrorism. It seems the spinelessness continues in spite of the double majority in Congress, and the polls showing a real dissatisfaction with our collective direction. We can defeat violent radicals with our dignity and liberty intact. Fortunately, this is a temporary measure, so let's hope we regain a firm grip on the reins of our great nation as soon as possible.
