Pelosi Draws a Line in the Sand(box)...
Speaker Pelosi has "come out swinging" against allegations that Congress is "kissing up" to GWB & Co. No one really thinks that, do they? I mean, what would give you that idea? Obviously the Madam Speaker is using this opportunity to spin, I, er, I mean clarify her position on the whole Iran thing. Courtesy Reuters via Raw Story.

Pelosi: Bush "must come to Congress" before attacking Iran

David Edwards and Greg Wasserstrom
Published: Sunday October 14, 2007

In an interview on ABC's This Week, Speaker Pelosi tells George Stephanopoulos that President Bush must get the approval of Congress before proceeding with an attack on Iran.

Just this week, the Senate passed a non-binding resolution designating Iran's Republican Guard as a terrorist organization in a move many observers fear will give President Bush the authority he needs to attack Iran. Pelosi disagrees, and doesn't plan on bringing up such a measure in the house.

"We don't believe that any of the authority the President has would allow him to go in without an act of Congress," she said, adding that the War Powers Act of the 1970s gives any president the power to retaliate against a country that has attacked the US. "But short of that," Pelosi said, "he must come to the Congress."

When asked about the Senate vote, Pelosi noted that it is unprecendented to declare a piece of another country's military a terrorist organization. She said, "Whatever Iran's impact is on our troops in Iraq should be dealt with in Iraq."

Ranger Russ to the Rescue!

Friday July 27, 2007 - Garageband Loops - Acid Music Loops - Royalty Free Music - Flash Loops - Guitar Loops - Hip-Hop Loops - That's what it is all about!! Inner Rhythm Studios has a great selection. Greetings everyone. Well, here we are just a day away from our biggest jam of the summer. Tomorrow we will be jamming for the masses. It's going to be fully documented. Laird has 3 video cameras that are going to shoot the show. My Roland 880ex will record the audio out of the sound guy's mixer. We will get a high quality audio file plus tons of footage from 3 cameras. This is going to be a fun exploration into digital video editing for me. I'm looking forward to playing with all of the video footage on my computer. When we get everything dialed, I will post the video on our blog for everyone to download and watch on their computer. I'll be camping out at the raceway on Saturday night, so I'm also bringing all of my camping gear and my large cooler that will have lots and lots of beer. It's going to be one hell of a party!!

O.k. Here are the jams from last Saturday nights show. I gotta tell ya, I was disappointed in the recordings because once again, our main AKG C3000 microphone failed to record. This is our main fidelity mic. The recordings sound really shitty, but if you want to check them out, I went ahead and did the best I could with the mixes. Here they are:

Gonznocchio
Gonzo was at it again, testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, either lying through his teeth or obfuscating at every turn. Today's spectacle seems to me a classic bait and switch if you will. It's as if Karl Rove is the puppetmaster and Gonzo is Pinocchio or as we sardonic bastards are apt to say, Gonznocchio. Yes, go after the puppet, ignore the puppeteers. Even Republican Arlen Specter railed on the administration and him, personally. He more than deserved it and should be removed from office. Call, email or otherwise contact your Congressperson and both Senators ASAP!

Judicial Jeopardy
This just in, courtesy RawStory...
"Capitol Hill's leading daily seems to have it in for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Today's headline from yesterday's hearings? Gonzales Digs Deeper Hole. After finishing up his latest round of testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Gonzales may have more than his credibility to lose. Wednesday's (paid-restricted) Roll Call reports the AG "may have put himself in legal jeopardy" as senators from both parties cast doubt on the veracity of his testimony. Republican Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) put it bluntly: "I do not find your testimony credible." He reminded Gonzales that the entire committee would review his testimony, in an apparent threat of legal consequences for lying to Congress."

He seems young to be using the old Reagan Defense: "I don't recall, uh that is, exactly, uh..." but then again, considering the stellar record of Bush's cabinet appointees... Well, thats a wrap, I'm OUT!!!

"Steam Pipe" blast triggers panic in NYC

Courtesy RawStory: A steam pipeline exploded in Manhattan on Wednesday in a shower of hot vapour, mud and rock, sparking panic among evening rush hour commuters and rekindling memories of the September 11 attacks among jittery New Yorkers. The explosion, which left a crater in the middle of the street, sent clouds of steam, mud and rocks several stories into the air and left buildings in the area shaking while a lingering rumble could be heard several blocks away.

Although police were quick to say there was nothing to indicate the explosion near Grand Central station was terrorist related, for some New Yorkers, the incident immediately revived memories of the September 11 attacks of 200
1. "Everything shook, there was a big explosion," said Lilian Crespo, 33. "It was horrible." "I heard a huge vibration and we were evacuated from the building, everybody was panicking," added another witness, Henry Galarza.

Several blocks of Lexington Avenue outside Grand Central Terminal near the iconic art deco Chrysler building remained shut off into the evening. The explosion occurred just before 6:00 pm (2200 GMT) and sent crowds of people heading north from the area, many of them running. Some had their shoes come off because they were running so fast. A spokesman for electrical supplier Con Edison said the company was testing the air for asbestos as a precaution.

Well, I'm guessing the air is at least as safe as after 9/11. Oh yeah, that didn't work out so well, huh? Update: They did find asbestos, but say it poses no threat.... Go see Sicko. It will open your eyes to a very real problem we face as a society. Pretty sad that our infrastructure, health care and education are so neglected while we waste money on so many other stupid, violent things. Peace!

No More the Rule of Law
Can you believe this....a lying, traitorous scag gets his just sentence commuted by his boss, who may be involved eyes-deep in the shit himself!!! Recusal is the correct response to conflict-of-interest issues with government officials in decision-making positions. We must not allow this kind of inequity to prevail in our Republic, lest we fall as so many would-be world conquerors have before. Without justice, we have nothing to stand upon. Two systems of law that preys upon the poor isn't equitable or sustainable in the long run. Many will see the perversion of our laws and fight to ensure we never have this happen again. Vote for change.

Supreme Court hands victory to Bush on faith-based initiatives

On a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that a group of taxpayers did not have standing to sue the US government for its funding of faith-based initiatives with federal money. The decision, Hein v. Freedom From Religion Foundation, was written by Samuel Alito, the second Supreme Court Justice appointed by President George W. Bush, according to the website SCOTUSBlog.

In a second 5-4 ruling, the Court ruled that schools could censor student expression outside of school grounds. The case was prompted by Juneau, Alaska, students who were punished after they held up a 'Bong Hits 4 Jesus' poster while attending a field trip to see the running of the Olympic Torch, according to CNN. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the decision. (Courtesy RawStory)

The Simpire Strikes Back

This article is courtesy of The Raw Story and NYT

Imperial Privilege
"The Office of Vice President Dick Cheney told an agency within the National Archives that for purposes of securing classified information, the Vice President's office is not an 'entity within the executive branch' according to a letter released Thursday by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform."

"Waxman noted that Cheney's office had declared itself not affected by an executive order amended by President George W. Bush in 2003 regarding classification and declassification of government materials.""The Vice President's office's refusal to comply with the executive order and the National Archives's request prompted the National Archives to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. But the Justice Department has not followed up on the Archives's request."

In response, Waxman issued a set of questions to which he requested answers by July 12. The full set of documents from Waxman's office can be found at the Oversight Committee's website.

Dick's Nix
The Vice President attempted to "nix" the agency that was targeting him, Friday's New York Times reports.

"For four years, Vice President Dick Cheney has resisted routine oversight of his office’s handling of classified information, and when the National Archives unit that monitors classification in the executive branch objected, the vice president’s office suggested abolishing the oversight unit, according to documents released yesterday by a Democratic congressman," the New York Times reports.

"The Oversight Committee has learned that over the objections of the National Archives, you exempted the Office of the Vice President from the presidential executive order that establishes a uniform, government-wide system for safeguarding classified national security information," Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), the Committee's chairman, wrote in a letter to Cheney. "Your decision to exempt your office from the President's order is problematic because it could place national security secrets at risk. It is also hard to understand given the history of security breaches involving officials in your office."

Excerpts from Times article:

In the tradition of Washington’s semantic dust-ups, this one might be described as a fight over what an “entity” is. The executive order, last updated in 2003 and currently under revision, states that it applies to any “entity within the executive branch that comes into the possession of classified information.”

J. William Leonard, director of the oversight office, has argued in a series of letters to Mr. Addington that the vice president’s office is indeed such an entity. He noted that previous vice presidents had complied with the request for data on documents classified and declassified, and that Mr. Cheney did so in 2001 and 2002.

But starting in 2003, the vice president’s office began refusing to supply the information. In 2004, it blocked an on-site inspection by Mr. Leonard’s office that was routinely carried out across the government to check whether documents were being properly labeled and safely stored.

Google pushes for 100 mpg car

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- "Google said Tuesday it is getting in on the development of electric vehicles, awarding $1 million in grants and inviting applicants to bid for another $10 million in funding to develop plug-in hybrid electric vehicles capable of getting 70 to 100 miles per gallon. The project, called the RechargeIT initiative and run from Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org, aims to further the development of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles - cars or trucks that have both a gasoline engine and advanced batteries that recharge by plugging into the nation's electric grid. The project also aims to develop vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, allowing cars to sell their stored power back to the nation's electricity grid during times of peak demand." Check out the rest of the story here

That is a great way to encourage innovation, in my opinion. Motivate people and they can do anything, as every great idea is birthed of necessity and creativity.

Tuesday June 12, 2007 - Garageband Loops - Acid Music Loops - Royalty Free Music - Flash Loops - Guitar Loops - Hip-Hop Loops - Thats what it is all about!! Inner Rhythm Studios has a great selection. Well, Inner Rhythm had 257 visitors yesterday! Wow! Another record day! It's so sweet to see our efforts bear fruit. 1320 got together last night to put our studio back together and discuss our next move. There is talk of a block party in Sebastopol on July 3 or 4, maybe both days. I don't think we will make any money, but I'm sure we will have a party! We have practice tonight, so we will talk more about it then. I plan on working on two songs for sure. I want to play 'What I Got' and 'Walkin on Sunshine'. These are two songs that need work. I just finished working out again today. I got on my treadmill and actually ran 5.2 miles! It took me 55 minutes. I feel great! The workouts have definately helped my energy level. I'm going to need it for all of the jams that keep presenting themselves. If our project can stay together, there is the possibility that we may be able to play the Health and Harmony fair next year. That is a kick-ass concert to play. We would be playing along side seriously famous groups. Anyway, I'll have some more audio to post hopefully tomorrow. Peace out....Russ

The show was incredible!!! We all had so much fun playing for the throng of writhing peeps undulating to our grooves that we have decided to gig again soon. We also managed to generate some revenue to help with our studio rent. The crowd response was phenomenal and our sound, dynamic. We teetered on the periphery of greatness itself! This posting is coming a little late, so enjoy Brewmanchu's audio offering and check out the show for yourself.

Duh Gubbament

Well, I think we got some issues to look at as a nation. Most of us want border security, affordable health care that works, jobs that pay a living wage, an educational system that really produces results, and that we have a world worth living in today and for future generations to come. Why can't we the people vote our vision into being? Who best represents the values and socio-economic interests that would bring about our greatest good? Vote for a Change!

The end of the plug? Scientists invent wireless device that beams electricity through your home

This is an excerpt from The Daily Mail.
"In a breakthrough that sounds like something out of Star Trek, scientists have discovered a way of 'beaming' power into a light bulb, mobile phone or laptop computer without wires. MIT researchers said Thursday they will soon be able to charge a computer or cell-phone battery from across a room, perhaps making the annoyance of wires or dead batteries a thing of the past The team at MIT, a top US academic laboratory, has shown their fledgling "WiTricity" technology can power a 60 watt bulb from a power source two meters (seven feet) away Scientists have known for nearly two centuries that it is possible to transfer an electrical current from one coil of wire to another without them touching..The phenomenon, called electromagnetic induction, is used in power transformers and electric motors around the world Rather than sending power from a transmitter to a receiver as a conventional electromagnetic wave - the same form of radiation as light, radio waves and microwaves - he could use the transmitter to fill a room with a 'non-radiative' electromagnetic field. Most objects in the room - such as people, desks and carpets - would be unaffected by the electromagnetic field. But any objects designed to resonate with the electromagnetic field would absorb the energy."

There is something fishy here. Could the EM field disrupt biological processes in an unknown way? How much would it cost to retrofit all the devices we use everyday? Can I use it to rock? Just asking some simple questions here...
US immigration bill trounced
A deal on granting legal status to 12 million illegal immigrants collapsed amid partisan rancor in the US Senate on Thursday, dealing a sharp blow to President George W. Bush. Republicans complained his maneuver would not allow them enough time to offer amendments to the legislation, a key second term priority for Bush. Democrats however accused some Republicans of offering repeated "killer amendments" in an effort to make the bill collapse. This bill is garbage. Pure politics, pure bulls*&#!!! Good riddance to bad rubbish, I always say..

Good morning everyone! I hope your weekend was wonderful and exciting. I have been feeling a bit under the weather the last couple of days, but now I’m back in the saddle again! Lots of stuff has happened so let’s break it down. A few subtle changes are in store for the blog’s format and content, but as always, here is the news.

Breaking News
Scooter Watch 2007

The verdict’s in and it’s official. Scooter Libby, the lying traitorous Neocon warmonger has been sentenced to 30 months in prison and a $250,000 fine. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving ass-munch than this idiot.

The Democratic Debate

The Democratic Party had a televised debate on CNN Sunday night, hosted by Wolf Blitzer. It seemed to me that the time allotments were disproportional in favor of top tier candidates. The whole thing was pretty lame. No hard questions, no definitive winner, albeit Edwards was pretty impressive, and the desperation and calculated responses made me ill.Still I’d vote Dem just to ensure no Repugs get the Presidency in ’08.It seems big $$$ interests are always in control of things in DC. I hope we vote ourselves out of this mess.
The stakes are way too high to sit on one’s ass. VOTE!!!!!!

CIA running black propaganda operation
against Iran, Syria and Lebanon, officials say

The Raw Story’s Larisa Alexandrovna reports that the CIA and Pentagon seem to be conductingsome quasi-illegal actions deep in Black Ops Territory. Does Iran-Contra ring any bells? Helloooooo, wtf is going on?This is our tax dollars hard at work, hunh? Give me break.

The Central Intelligence Agency has received approval at least twice in the last several years to conduct an “information war” against several countries in the Middle East, including Iran, Lebanon and Syria, according to current and former intelligence officials In addition, the Bush Administration has been running operations out of the Defense Department that are not subject to Congressional oversight, intelligence sources say. These programs appear murkier, and have included support for an alleged terrorist group in Iran.A recent ABC News report revealed that President George W. Bush had signed a presidential finding giving the CIA the authority to conduct “non-lethal” covert operations against Iran. Former and current intelligence sources tell RAW STORY, however, that there have been “at least two” presidential findings over the past few years which have empowered the agency to run an “open-secret” information war against Iranian interests, mainly leveraging resources and assets “within the United States and France.”

Fox analyst: 'Space aliens kidnapped president' and 'left this tool'

When you see a story like this on Fox News, it’s like hearing
The Twilight Zone theme music in your head!!!

From RAW STORY: On Monday, Fox News covered Vladimir Putin's threat that if the US government goes ahead with setting up a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, Russia will target its own missiles at European targets. The discussion led to an unlikely reversal of political positions, with conservative Fox political analyst Tammy Bruce describing the situation as "another glaring example of the growing incompetency of the Bush administration and his foreign policy," while Democratic strategist Bob Beckel concluded that "I support Bush on this ... and it's a strange day when I do that." Bruce began by defending Putin and asked how we in the US would feel if Russian missiles were sited in Cuba or Honduras. She pointed out that the US missiles in the Czech Republic and Poland are supposedly intended to guard against the threat of potential Iranian long-range missiles, even though those missiles don't yet exist and we've said we're not going to allow Iran to develop them. She then blew up about immigration and Iraq as well, saying, "I'm waiting to find the space aliens that kidnapped the president that I grew to admire after September 11 and left this tool behind. ... I'm furious."

Band Biz
To Infineon and Beyond

Sunday night we jammed for our good friend and promoter Marcos and a cool, if opinionated passer-by named Kelly. We played some jammin’ tunes for them, and later worked out some of the logistics for our 06/09/07 gig at Fiorino’s. We want everyone who can attend our live show to come on down and boogie. If you make it to the show and ask for Meshers, I will give you a 20% discount on your next purchase of any of our production bundles. The show is going to be a hot time in old Rincon Valley! There is an opening band, blues I think, and then it’s time to get the party on with your friendly neighborhood cover band. Yeah baby, it’s us on the stage rockin’ in the free world!!!!!!

Special Report

There has been a concern that my daily enshrinement of hotties with nice bodies might offend someone out there in the world. It did. So now, as all things change and grow, this post will now adapt to the reality that you can’t please all the people all of the time, and chill with the pin-up art. If you want to email us and tell us that you truly love the hotties, then I might bring them back occasionally to heat things up. Now this column will focus on inspirational thoughts and ideas, my own artwork and other cool stuff for your enjoyment. Good luck producing.

Tens of Thousands Protest G8 Summit in Germany

Well, we were unable to post yesterday due to schedule conflicts and family obligations. It is now 8:45 in the A.M. and I’m almost late to work. I wanted to relate one story in the news, though. It is about the G8 summit in Germany, and the protests happening there. Sounds as if US policy isn't too popular in Europe these days!
Link to the full article here .
Tens of thousands of protestors marched through this northeastern German port on Saturday to show their opposition to next week's G8 summit of the world's wealthiest nations. Organisers said they were expecting 100,000 people from anti-poverty and anti-globalisation groups to demonstrate in the nearest city to the luxury coastal resort of Heiligendamm where the leaders will gather from Wednesday. But police said only 30,000 people were taking part.

Band Biz

Sunday night jam is in effect. Last night Karl and I worked on the jazz bass concept I came up with the other day. The potential for a good dance number is there, just needs a little fine tuning. It combines groove boogie and modal jazz flavors into a "sweet concoction" that'll make you "feel good". See you at Fiorino's next Saturday night. I want to thank everyone who is keeping up with our bonnie exploits. The international interest really means a lot to me personally. Without everyone's support and attention it just wouldn't be the same. Please comment or email us if you're feeling it.

Paradigm Shift Alert
It is my pleasure to relate to you the following account. Once a long time ago, I had a dream of living in a community of conscious, enlightened people, doing what I love to do most, playing music and living free! Though I have tried to do just that as an adult, my past failures to perfect the formula of success had left me exasperated at best. Sometimes it seemed as if the cosmic cards were stacked against me. My best efforts to be a good person, an ethical person, a humane individual who is compassionate of those around me was often returned with scorn and criticism much of the time. Yet tirelessly I arose anew each day with faith in myself and humankind. Please don't assume my focus on the dire events in the world are any indication of my "take" on things or that I am a pessimist. In fact, I truly believe we as a species are evolving into a galactic intelligence that will one day spread the DNA of this beautiful biosphere to the corners of the universe. It is always a concern as an artist that you will be misunderstood. I struggle with it in more than art, though. Having a political perspective that is edgy and a philosophical outlook unrecognised in one's culture can be a real challenge. Expressing oneself to a mindset so unaccustomed to truth is also a toil. I can't make anyone understand me, only do my best to be clear and receptive myself.

Band Biz
It has come to my attention that we (1320) are being rejoined by none other than Greg Eckels, our previous guitarist. I wish him a hardy hello and welcome back! Laird will still be there doin' his thang and I think we will sound better than ever. Rockin' in the Free World!!!

Political Punditry
The landscape of this election season is one of the biggest spectacles I've ever seen. Rotten Rudy and The Mittster, Freddie and maybe Newt on the right; Hil, Barry, Johnny Boy and the specter of Gore on the left. It would seem the stage is set for the ultimate crap-slinging contest. Not one of these candidates are untouched by scandalstank. Divorces, affairs, dubious voting records and ties to big business interests are just the opening act. We need to vote for change that really makes our nation and world more healthy, secure and prosperous. Vote your heart, vote for your economic best interests, vote for a safer world for our children. JUST VOTE!!!!!!!

Bloggage
I want to apologize if any of the pictures of hot women offend anybody, it is not my intention to do so. I just like to spice things up a bit. I won't be posting buff guys ever on this site so, sorry ladies. I would like to thank everyone out there in the blogosphere from UK and Australia, Sweden and Norway, lets not forget France, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, Spain and Russia; not to mention Japan, South Korea, Thailand, India, Turkey and so many more! We are doing a free give-away download over there and people are just visiting our site in droves. It was definitely worth doing the promotion. It's sink or swim for me right now. I'm praying that Inner Rhythm gets on that first page of search results this month. We need the sales. Anyway, I'm going to go work out. Talk to ya'll tomorrow.
